The Australian people are not benefiting from our vast resources.

Our sovereign wealth is being pilfered.
Why is Australia giving away its rich gas supply instead of maximising its value through an Australian sovereign wealth fund like other countries?
I do not know why we are sending billions of dollars overseas for pennies on the dollar while we in this country pay a premium for gas.
There are two possible reasons:
The first is that we have been ordered by the Yanks (The Empire) to give them our gas at little to no cost. The leadership of our country has learned not to push back so as not to be targeted by US intelligence, as individuals who care about their career and see their role as more important than winning this particular battle because they don't think they'll win the battle anyway and be a casualty.
The US doesn't want to pay market value for their gas and sees it as easier to strongarm their partner than to deal with higher gas prices like the peasants in Australia who own the gas.
REASON 1: THE US EMPIRE TWISTED OUR ARM.
The other possibility we are giving away our country's security net may be because unlike the countries who get market value for their gas and put that money into securing the future of their citizenry is because those countries see themselves as a group that looks after each other even when you are lucky enough to become wealthy you have a sense of responsibility to your countries people and well being.
REASON 2: INDIVIDUALS IN POSITIONS OF POWER SOLD OUT OUR COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE FOR PERSONAL BENEFIT.
They have a collective sense of oneness, while here in Australia, our egalitarian ethos has left us as we have become more atomised; individualism and taking what you can have been imported from America to Australia, where in both places, taking the cash and looking after one's self is not seen as selling out, perhaps we could say the rich of Australia have never really brought into the egalitarian ideals, they have just role played them while taking what they can.
It's easier for the elite, the owner class, to buy the climbers who have worked their way into important positions where their choices affect more than just themselves. Where once upon a time, they'd have stood up to the wealthy elite, they buckle and think not of the collective but their position, status, and wealth.
It's a whole carrot and stick thing where those in positions of responsibility are there because they played ball; the stick is losing all that, and the carrot is personal benefits; this level of selling out hurts the country and its people.
IT STARTS IN SCHOOL
Those in the public sphere are conditioned to be easily led, and those who have talent and are easily led are rewarded and elevated.
In contrast, those who have their own compass are marginalised.
The public system guides without spending any time on values or personal integrity. Where we learn to comply with our masters without questioning the master's motives and reasoning, and those with that ability get weeded out.
In the private sphere, they do not touch the egalitarian reality. They learn to see themselves as masters and do not identify with their country as a whole, just their privileged subset.
They may even become principled, but they also see themselves as superior and develop a sense of privilege, so when it comes to picking sides, they side with the elite because they don't identify with the public and, in reality, see them as less than fully human, which is why they are happy to sell them out.
A LACK OF COLLECTIVE STRENGTH
The second reason we don't get to use the wealth from this gas is because the people who made the decisions sold out their country to better their circumstances. They fight as individuals, appease or identify with the capitalist, and they don't stand firm together; in both cases, because they are weak, lack integrity, and are playing solo and not collectively, they feel less empowered to even think of pushing back on the capitalist because those around them will sell them out anyway.
