The lucky country runs on one fact
Aussies win on quality of life because we have a strong Labor Party.
The Impact:
🌹 Most positive change for the average punter has come from Labor policy (Not Liberal).
⚖️ In Australia, the elites don't always get their way.
It is natural to see systems as oppressive and unfair, no matter where you live in the world. The laws of nature and entropy ensure that no matter what system of government is in power, you cannot and should not expect a utopia, as many of us do when we are young.
The world is broken, and its impact extends far beyond our systems into our biology and the math that holds the universe together.
In Australia, the two main parties are the business party (Liberals) and the workers' party (Labor).
In some democracies, like America, the two main parties are business parties. They put their wealthy constituents first, and the citizenry last.
Most, if not all, rights for workers are hard won through strong unions and representatives of the working people, the poor, and the sick.
We need business to generate wealth, but what is the purpose of a rich country if it doesn't look after its people?
Most wealthy people have the goal of expanding their wealth and power; it's just human psychology. So they are always at odds with the citizenry, trying to maximise their share of the wealth while minimising the country's share of it.
Those wealthy individuals are the ones who own large corporations and do their best to manipulate the system in their favour.
Powerful people use their wealth to get their way, while individuals who are not wealthy have but one option. Solidarity with other working people.
In all systems, the rich have the upper hand, and combined with the need for wealth creation, means they have a lot of control, even in a country with a strong sense of solidarity.
Labor parties have to strike a balance between ensuring the economy is strong, appeasing the rich, and making sure people are looked after.
The bulk of the mainstream media is funded by big business; they have the means of making workers' parties look inferior. Even when workers' parties are in power, they don't hold all the cards.
All good social programs, welfare systems, healthcare, super funds, and workers' rights have been hard-won under Labor. But big business would have you believe these are all dirty words, but they are foundational.
So if you read something or watch something that has you thinking Labor is as bad or worse than the Liberals, know that it stems from manipulation, maybe not from the person telling you, they could believe everything they say, but the reason they believe it is because they have been manipulated through the media, and institutions which are funded and beholden to big business.
Australia is considered the lucky country because we have unions and politicians who prioritise the greater good over their personal advancement.

If you want a better society, unless you're wealthy, the most beneficial thing you can do for our society is participate and raise the tide by joining a union or your local Labour party.
